The Koue Bokkeveld (Cold goat country) is one of the coldest places in the Western Cape in our winter from June to August. It is also called Little Switzerland because of the high snowfall in winter. Leave Cape Town early and travel across through the Nuwekloof Pass into “Het Land van Waveren”. Tulbagh is a picturesque little town which was renovated after a massive earthquake in 1969. Visit some of the historical buildings and museums. Drive through vineyards and fruit orchards through Mitchell’s Pass into Ceres, Goddess of Fruitfulness. This town nestled amongst the Skurweberge is called the fruit basket of the Cape. Visit a fruit farm and factory. Cruise through Prince Alfred’s Hamlet and the Gydo Pass into the Koue Bokkeveld. Visit the small village Op-die-Berg. Visit a community project in the village. Return via Ceres and the beautiful Bain’s Kloof Pass back to Cape Town.
