Soccer 2010 Tour-Cape and the Garden Route (Group 3)
DAY 1- Thursday 1 July 2010- Day of arrival
Meet at Cape Town International Airport and transfer to your Guest House/BB. Transfer to watch the Soccer World Cup 2010 matches at the Grand Parade Cape Town. The Grand Parade is one of the Hotspots for the Mother City’s Soccer entertainment. Transfer back to Guest House/BB.

DAY 2- Friday 2 July 2010 -Cape Town City under the Table Cloth
Discover our historic Mother City from the bustling V.A. Waterfront (Cape Gem no.1) to the inner city. Take an early cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain (weather permitting –Cape Gem no.2), for a 360 degree panorama of the Cape Peninsula, The Atlantic Ocean and False Bay. Take a leisurely walk in the Bo-Kaap (Malay Quarters) with her colourful houses and cobbled-stone roads. Opportunities for shopping at craft markets at Green Market Square in front of the Old Town Hall and St.George’s Mall in the heart of Cape Town. Visit the Castle of Good Hope in time for the 'handing over of the key ceremony' at noon. Walk in the Company Gardens, established by Jan van Riebeeck in the 1650’s. An afternoon visit to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens (Cape Gem no.3), flagship of the National Botanical Institute of South Africa. Walk in the landscaped gardens, the Braille trail for the blind, the visitor’s center, the indoor planetarium and many secret nooks in the gardens.
Evening transfer to Cape Town to watch soccer at the Grand Parade Hotspot

DAY – 3 Saturday 3July 2010 – Cape Town match 2 v 4 (B)
Morning at leisure.
Afternoon transfer to Cape Town to watch the soccer at the Grand Parade. Optional Match 2 v 4 (B) at the Stadium in Green Point. Evening transfer back.

DAY 4 – Sunday 4July 2010 - Robben Island and The people of The Cape Flats
Start our tour at the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront. Take a ferry ride 10km across Table Bay to Robben Island (Cape Gem no.5). Meet our prison guide for a tour of the prison cells. Hear the stories of hardship, struggle and perseverance from ex-inmates of the prison (shared with Ex- President Nelson Mandela). Do a tour of the village and the rest of the infamous Robben Island, a place of hardship and suffering for three and a half centuries. Return to the V&A.
Meet the people who once lived in the heart of the city, now widespread across the Cape Flats. Visit the District Six Museum and District Six, heart-throbbing in the sixties, now desolate and barren. In total contrast is the Bo-Kaap Malay Area, alive with colourful houses, cheerful people and rich Malay traditions. Experience the lifestyles of our people in markets, craft and art centres in Langa, Bonteheuwel, Belhar and Khayelitsha.
Evening transfer to watch the soccer in the Townships with the locals.

DAY 5 – Monday 5 July 2010
Depart Cape Town for Port Elizabeth. Drive over the Du Toitskloof Mountains through the green wheat fields of the Overberg. Drive through Mossel Bay dating back to 1488 when Bartholomeus Diaz sailed around the bay in a caravelle (a replica of the caravelle to be seen in the Diaz Museum). Enter the Garden Route to Knysna. This route takes you through mountain forests across rivers and lakes along the sea. Explore Knysna, the most popular town along the Garden Route. Stop at the Eastern Heads for a spectacular view of Knysna and the lagoon. Continue through the Tsitzikamma Mountains to Port Elizabeth. Arrive Port Elizabeth. Transfer to Port Elizabeth Stadium or Soccer Hotspot. Transfer back to Guest House.

DAY 6 – Tuesday 6July 2010 -The Addo National Elephant Park and Port Elizabeth
Port Elizabeth bears the legacy of being in an area where the first British, Boer, Dutch, German and Xhosa people clashed. Arrive at the Addo National Elephant Park, boasting with the Big 7 (elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo, and leopard in the Zuurberg Mountains, Great White Shark and Southern Right Whales along the coast. Game drive (self) through the park in search of the gentle giants. Stop at Hap-Oor dam, named after an elephant bull that was shot by hunters through the ear, and terrorised visitors for years. The Park introduced a few lions to increase the status to a BIG FIVE Game Reserve. Afternoon lunch (optional)at the Restaurant. Watch the Elephants come to drink at the water-hole overlooking the main camp. Return to Port Elizabeth to watch the soccer matches at the Port Elizabeth Hotspots.

Day 7- Wednesday 7July 2010-The Little Karoo
Leave Port Elizabeth and return to Knysna via Jeffreys Bay, popular surfing beach. Take a walk across the Paul Sauer Bridge at the Storms River. Watch adrenalin-junkies jump off the highest bungi-bridge in the world at Bloukrantz bridge. Continue over the Outeniqua Mountains to Oudtshoorn, ostrich capital of the world. Visit the world famous Cango Caves, one of our country’s greatest natural wonders. These caves have been sculptured by nature through the ages. Guided tour of the Cango Caves. Return and visit the Cango Ostrich Ranch for a tour of the farm. See and touch the largest flightless bird on our planet.

Day 8-Thursday 8July 2010
After breakfast we leave Oudtshoorn and enter the famous Route 62 through the Little Karoo wedged in between the Outeniqua Mountains in the south and the Swartberg Mountains in the north. Visit a wine farm in Calitzdorp known for the best Muskadel in South Africa. Continue through Ladismith and Barrydale through majestic mountains. Enter the Breede River Valley and the rose towns of Montague, Ashton and Robertson. Visit the Kleinplasie open Air Museum and sample their homemade bread and Witblits (spirits). Worcester is well known for its many institutions – Goeie Hoop School for the Deaf, and Training Centre for the blind etc. Arrive in Cape Town. Transfer to one of the Soccer Hotspots.
Transfer back to your Guest House.

DAY 9 –Friday 9July 2010- The Cape Peninsula
The Cape Peninsula Tour (Cape Gem no 4) takes you on an unforgettable journey through our floral kingdom, panoramic drives along the Atlantic Ocean and False Bay. Drive through the rich coastal suburbs of Clifton and Camp’s Bay. Stop at Maidens Cove for views of Lions Head, Table Mountain and The Twelve Apostles. Continue to Hout Bay Harbour for an optional boat ride to Seal Island. Shop at the interesting craft markets. Drive along the famous Chapman’s Peak Drive for stunning views of Hout Bay harbour, nestled amongst the mountains. Drive along the mystique Misty Cliffs with the mist hanging along the cliffs with it’s pure white beaches and crystal blue waters. Enter The Cape Peninsula National Park and cruise to the tip of the Cape Peninsula. Walk to the Cape Point Lighthouse for spectacular views of The Atlantic Ocean and False Bay. Photo-stop at The Cape of Good Hope, South Westernmost tip of Africa (most photographed spot in the Peninsula). Enjoy the frolicking of our endangered African Jackass Penguins in the tranquil waters of Boulders Beach. Watch our whales from the many vantage points (in season June - Nov). Visit Simon’s Town with its historical buildings and Naval Base. Stop at the monument of the famous World War Two naval dog, Able Seaman Just Nuisance at Jubilee Square. Cruise through Fishhoek and Boyes Drive for aerial views of False Bay and Muizenberg, Riviera of The South. Arrive Cape Town late afternoon. Transfer to Soccer hotspots

Day 10- Friday 10July 2010 The Winelands of the Boland- Soccer 2010 Loser 1 v Loser 2 played in Port Elizabeth
Leave our hotel for a half-day tour of the wine lands of the Boland (Cape Gem no.6). Wine tasting and cellar tours at some of the most renowned estates in the country. The vibrant Stellenbosch is the second oldest town in SA and boasts several historical buildings and the first Rugby Academy in the world. Stellenbosch, also known as the Oak City, is known for one of the best universities in the country. Visit Oom Samie se Winkel, a century old trading store. Take a leisurely stroll in the oak-lined trees of Stellenbosch. Continue over the Hell's Hoogte Mountain Pass through the little Mission Station with the biblical name of Pniel. Wine-tasting at Boschendal under the old oak tree. Continue to Franschhoek and stop at the French Huguenot Memorial. Return to the Grand Parade Hotspot in Cape Town to watch the Loser 1 V Loser 2 match played in Port Elizabeth. Transfer to Bellville after the match.
